I’m not suggesting this as a justification to just make away with people’s data, but realistically this is going to happen eventually and I’d rather Mastodon has tooling and conventions available to deal with this rather than “we always hoped this would never happen” ...

Anyone know which major platforms have announced ActivityPub interoperability?

- evolve2k 4y agoMore addressing the parents reference to bad actors and major platforms. To be fair around tumblr it is now run by the Wordpress Foundation - https://wordpressfoundation.org/ https://wordpressfoundation.org/ “The WordPress Foundation is a charitable organization founded by Matt Mullenweg to further the mission of the WordPress open source project: to democratize publishing through Open Source, GPL software.” So while definitely a larger platform this is not big for profit social media arriving.
- evolve2k 4y agoMedium haven’t announced ActivityPub but they have announced their own mastodon instance, indicating potential coming interest in ActivityPub. https://blog.medium.com/medium-embraces-mastodon-19dcb873eb11 https://blog.medium.com/medium-embraces-mastodon-19dcb873eb1...
