One could just as easily argue that modern humans evolved about about 200,000 years ago, and something that existed for approx 0.0005% of human existence is obviously advenced. We struggled along for 200,000 years without it, so I'd hardly call it an incredible failure that more people don't learn it[1]. [1] The usual disclaimers apply - im not anti-math, and I think more people should learn math, science, etc...
