along the same lines of 'social media subverts democracy', you begin to wonder if 'democracy' is so damn vulnerable to technological advances that perhaps it is no longer fit for purpose? We are well overdue a refactor of our political system, it is a full stack of anachronisms at this point
- insane_dreamer 4y agoI think the awareness is that our current democratic systems are predicated on certain assumptions (i.e., in this case, that constituent requests to their representatives in congress/parliament are from real constituents) that are being rendered obsolete by technology. Democracy will have to adjust to new realities (how it will do that is not clear).
