"Why won’t our artistic-literary establishment recognise that there’s mystery, beauty and humanity in maths?"
I have a maths background and I see none of mystery or beauty in it. Dunno what 'humanity' means here.
I've noticed those in humanities are terrible at debating. They can't focus, slide off the subject and tend towards handwaving arguments with little rigour. Their soft subjects are important but they neglect 'our' side of the fence.

Me. But it's useful.
- lostmsu 4y agoThere's quite a bit of beauty in math (see Escher's works, and Permutation City; some things are enchanting on their own like fractals and strange loops). I think it is just not explored by artists enough, potentially due to unfamiliarity.
- karmakurtisaani 4y agoComplex analysis is pure beauty. I'll duel you on this if I have to.
- _a_a_a_ 4y agoYou see beauty but I don't though I wish I could. Seeing it is not universal is my point. We're not on the same planet.
