Alternative app stores will be a big yawn. iPhone users do not want them, and Apple will make it a pain to use them. So it will take a big push from third parties before they’ll take off. And I doubt those third parties will be able to push hard enough to overcome user inertia. Alternative app stores will be a niche thing, like FDroid was (is?) on Android. Which isn’t a bad thing for anyone but isn’t a big deal either.
