My background is in engineering physics and I like to think from first principles. I make a strong distinction between the possible and the impossible. In my experience the cybersecurity folks tend to think very differently, in a more fuzzy / pragmatic way, and it’s very hard to translate their thinking into sound engineering. They are typically very focused on trivial aspects, which goes poorly together with good engineering culture.
