MDMA has lead to some amazing life experiences
I'm a bit confused by the following line in the article though:
> all the money we spent on ecstasy, or E as we called it
Usually a fiver a pill and one pills all you need. Double dropping is a waste of time.
- vladvasiliu 4y agoIt's funny, no one says the same thing about alcohol, yet it can get very costly very quickly. I never bought MDMA or any other drug in nightclubs, but I've seen people dealing, and I think the price was €10 a pill. In the same places at the time, a random shitty drink was like €9 and a beer (330 mL) around 8. People would clearly drink more than a single drink a night.
- Throwaway48885 4y agoMDMA doesn't work the second time you take it the same day, you won't feel practically any effect at all. You have to wait some time. The next day it might work a little but if you try to do it 3 days in a row that's not going to work.
- junon 4y agoIt's also dangerous to do it that often. Minimum time between doses should be 3 months to be as safe as possible. People who drop more than once don't understand how it works and are just setting themselves up for medical emergencies.
- nibbleshifter 4y ago3 months seems to be a fairly arbitrary length of time, but yes - its not a drug you want to take too often, and redosing is counterproductive. Its unfortunate that due to prohibition, a lot of harm reduction advice is based on folk wisdom kind of knowledge as opposed to hard science.
- junon 4y agoThis is pretty much the consensus and it's my understanding it's based off of studies.
- nibbleshifter 4y agoAye, agreed its the consensus, but I've never been able to find much hard data to back it up with.
- nibbleshifter 4y agoRedosing just makes the comedown/hangover worse, and prolongs the tail end effects which aren't all that great anyway. Also increases risk of taking too much and ending up doing yourself harm.
- nibbleshifter 4y agoBuying inside a club is usually more expensive (for everything). On MDMA alcohol isn't really needed (and is usually detrimental to the experience). So its a cheap night out. You might have a couple of beers, but not the massive and expensive overconsumption that is usually the "norm".
- zztop44 4y agoThat depends a lot on where you live.
- nibbleshifter 4y agoThe writer of the article is talking about the UK, where £5 to £10 has been the average price range for MDMA containing pills for ages.
- specproc 4y agoBig range. Could get them for a quid in Bradford in the early 00s, I heard the nineties were a lot more expensive though that was before my time. Obviously they were all way better back in't day.
- nibbleshifter 4y agoI heard of pills for that low, but never seen them unless it was a bigger order. The pills coming out of the Netherlands these days are absurdly potent - tests have found ones up to 350mg. There's a lot of mythology out there about if different production methods change the "effect", but lab tests show no difference on a chemical level. The problem today is that whenever there's a good stamp going around, there's always a knockoff that's just cheap speed and caffeine or some other shite.
- MaxikCZ 4y agoWhen I was smoking a lot people around me wondered where I get the money for it. Little did they know it was cheaper than if I were smoking ciggs.
- lucidlive 4y agoE was as much a as $40/pill (CAD) in the mid 90s in Montreal, Canada.
- nibbleshifter 4y agoThat's expensive as. Highest I've ever paid was 10 euros a pill.
