Copilot and Private Repositories on GitHub
- gavinhoward 4y agoIANAL. I never thought about it before, but this may be another avenue to show that Copilot is not legally viable. If companies that pay GitHub for hosting decide that it's unsafe to host their code there, I think GitHub may have to fold on training Copilot on private repos. And if GitHub folds there, or even better, if some company demonstrates that their IP was violated by Copilot, that puts FOSS in a great position to do the same.
