That's not the kind of guess and check I'm talking about. I'm talking about just copy and pasting things, moving variables around, etc. without any real methodology. Just doing arbitrary changes to the code until it appears that a problem is fixed, because they don't have the deeper understanding to explain why a problem is occurring. The best programmers I know do not do this.
