I'm one of those people. IDK why but there's some disconnect between my brain and my mouth. For instance, if I'm giving directions, I will point to the right and say, "Go Left". I have a scar that I use as a touchstone to orient me, but every time I have to intentionally tap the scar to remember which way is left or which way is right. Despite that, I am an excellent navigator and have never been lost. I even lead a group of my friends out of a deep forest when we got sidetracked on a hike with no compass or map (this was before GPS cellphones were ubiquitous). Excellent sense of direction and my current location in the city, state, and world, but can't tell you right from left reliably. I'm also the first person in my family to be born left handed in recorded history on either side.
