"If there is one lesson from the events of the past year, it is that open societies such as ours have an ability to adapt in a way that closed societies simply do not. Russia has turned violent and malevolent. China has grown more authoritarian and inept. Meanwhile, free democratic societies have united around the Ukrainians as they battle to preserve the liberal world order. "
The free, liberal world order. A myth that doesn't exist but needs to be preserved as an ideological weapon. The "free, liberal" world is responsible for genocides, invasions, bombings of civilians, supporting far-right dictatorships and massacres around the world. Meanwhile, the "closed" world invests in Africa and Latin America as partners and not as a playground to invade and plunder. The "closed" world keeps their billionaires and mega-corporations in check instead of being governed by them. The "closed" world applies rent control and considers housing a human right not a market variable. The "closed" world develops vaccines and distribute them at no-cost to underdeveloped countries.
The "free liberal" world order is a stomach-turning myth that needs to be put to sleep.
