Show HN: Hoshi, a little fun Star battle puzzle with daily challenges
Hoshi is a little puzzle app I created in my spare time. The underlying game principle is called "Star Battle" or "Two not Touch". In a normal 2 star game each row, column, and region must have exactly 2 stars, but stars are not allowed to touch (even not diagonally).
One of the biggest challenges in the development was the algorithm for generating the puzzles. In complexity theory it is one of the NP-Hard problems. Simulated Annealing with Z3 was the approach that worked out for me.
- emocin 4y agoWhy in the world does it track location on iPhone? That is a dealbreaker for me.
- deshi-basara 4y agoThe "location" attribute on Apple's App Privacy has also to be set for lower level location resolutions. Hoshi has to connect to my server to get the newest games, leaderboards, statistics aggregations, etc. At the api temporary logs of all requests are created that contain IP addresses (e.g. for throttling critical api endpoints). To my understanding an IP address counts as "low level location resolutions" and that's why I have disclosed this information in the privacy policy. In summary: Hoshi does not track your exact (GPS) location, just api calls.
