I deleted my LinkedIn account a while ago, largely because I set my email to not be visible, but was still getting recruiter spam on a daily basis, and they all said they got my email address from LinkedIn. Since deleting it, I almost never get emails from recruiters anymore, so I have to imagine they were telling the truth.
