Ask HN: Any Alternative to the Apple Computers?
I'm big fan of old apple devices and OS, but look's like they going to became average overpriced marketing thing. Any upcoming alternatives? idk like NeXT in our time?
- HelloNurse 4y agoDo you mean that as vintage computers become expensive over time your Apple collection is increasingly limited by your budget? Totally unavoidable, particularly for beloved brands like Apple: just collect something more affordable.
- danyadanch 4y agosorry, my english is very bad :( do we have next "Apple"? i mean that nowadays apple became not THE THING, but AVERAGE THING, like M-processors are supergreat, but new mac designs are meh. new macOS versions looks like gnome theme fully bugged. just saw news about adding touchscreen to macbooks - are we became LENOVO YOGA PAD PRO MAX etc.? maybe i just old man yelling at cloud...
- HelloNurse 4y agoNot even Apple cares about design beyond the low bar of looking slightly more polished than the competition. If I had to pick an "iconic" contemporary computer, it would be a naked Raspberry Pi.
