I struggled to use Dall-E when it had stricter filters. It seemed like most queries would get flagged as inappropriate even when clearly not, you couldn't upload any image with any form of face detected, etc. Since then they changed policies and relaxed the filters, it's gotten somewhat more usable (although still many innocuous requests end up flagged). I have barely used ChatGPT but in my very limited experience I got a good number of queries rejected (asking if A or B is better, using any form of gendered language, etc). It was at the very least highly limiting as a creative tool, if not as a professional one.
