That's some serious disinformation, researchers in Brazil said it was Twitter [1]
To quote the article:
"Researchers in Brazil said Twitter in particular was a place to watch because it is heavily used by a circle of right-wing influencers — Bolsonaro allies who continue to promote election fraud narratives. Several influencers have had their accounts banned in Brazil and now reside in the United States. Bolsonaro himself was on vacation in Florida on Sunday."

- LargoLasskhyfv 4y agoHave you read the article? > While experts say that apps like Telegram and Twitter may have played a larger part in last week’s attack, some people in Brazil have also blamed conspiracy theories and violent rhetoric that spread on Kwai. Marcelo Adnet, a well-known Brazilian actor, pointed to a video on the app in which a Bolsonaro supporter called for the murder of 11 Supreme Court judges. So it can be understood as saying in addition to the more known apps, this one also played a role.
- Kukumber 4y agoI take what a researcher said with some confidence I take what "some people said" with a grain of salt I take what a "well-known" Brazilian actor said with another grain of salt Should we make an affirmation based on what "some people said", or what researchers said? OP's article about twitter: > may have played But the researchers said it "has played a role" But about Kwai, based on what "some people" said, it is "Have played a role" and not "may have" What's disinformation? does it have a different meaning based on the subject?
- LargoLasskhyfv 4y agoSigh... > Marcelo Adnet, a well-known Brazilian actor, pointed to a video on the app in which a Bolsonaro supporter called for the murder of 11 Supreme Court judges. Surely someone has a copy?
- Kukumber 4y agoThat's not what leads thousands of people to spread misinformation and engage with insurrection and riots Report the video and the moderation team will get rid of it As the researchers said, what played a role is Twitter: > Researchers in Brazil said Twitter in particular was a place to watch because it is heavily used by a circle of right-wing influencers and then > Billionaire Elon Musk, who completed his acquisition of Twitter in late October, fired the company’s entire staff in Brazil except for a few salespeople, said a person familiar with the firings who spoke on the condition of anonymity to describe sensitive matters. Among those fired in early November included eight people, based in São Paulo, who moderated content on the platform to catch posts that broke its rules against incitement to violence and misinformation, the person said. The person said they were not aware of any teams actively moderating rule-breaking content on Twitter in Brazil. Journalists mentions some search results that references some alt-right pro-bolsonaro groups, notably: Facebook, TikTok and here Kwai, all of them properly moderated, specially Facebook, since some former CIA agents are leading the moderation teams <:) [1] Being disingenuous is not a good thing, specially when your goal is to manipulate the public opinion, it produces hazardous effects, defiance for example [1] - https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=34197023 https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=34197023
- LargoLasskhyfv 4y agoMaybe I've misunderstood you? What exactly is it that you call disinfo upthread/1st post? That it is disinformation to avert the attention from Twitters role, or that the whole article is wrong, because what happened via Twitter is so much more, than 'that little thing' on Kwai? Edit: Whatever, 6:46 AM here. Cats sleeping. I need to sleep too. Will recheck later.
