I don't agree with the tweet, but you didn't even engage. What does being bullied by peers have to do with the alleged coddling of undergraduates by college administrators and professors?
- PaulHoule 4y agoHe is not even using the full 140 characters, the one relevant word is ‘safe’. I am engaging with the tweet and not the coded meaning of the tweet. Sure, this is Twitter and really this message is not an attempt to communicate and is not meaningful in itself but rather it is a coded message to a certain tribe. Maybe members of that tribe will buy Sam’s shitcoin to ‘own the libs’ or something. (Good thing that women of all sorts seem to be too smart to buy into an ‘empowerment’ coin.) To be painfully specific I hold the teachers and administration of schools I attended responsible for not just allowing but actively supporting and sometimes joining the bullying. Maybe it is different today but I certainly was not coddled in any way. If he really has something to say he should be more specific but reading what he says at face value it sounds like ‘safe’ is not something colleges should be… Maybe they should defend the campus police, allow violent criminal gangs to function in campus the way my old school did, etc. As annoying as ‘woke’ can be, I’d take ‘woke’ any day over the school being an active supporter of harassment of LGBTQ people plus straights who are supportive or perceived to be supportive of them. (This was the early 1990s and these dumbasses were too scared to bash real gay people because they might get AIDS or something.)
