CNET Is Quietly Publishing Entire Articles Generated by AI
- anigbrowl 4y agoWholly unsurprising. I'm sure lots of outlets are doing this, maybe using GAN-generated faces as well. We already had an epidemic of shitty content farming and now they're just shifting to automated production.
- mikece 4y agoMakes me wonder if an AI could be used to determine which articles are written by an AI and which are made by humans. I propose such an AI be called "Bladerunner."
- jaggs 4y agoTake a look at one of the articles, (eg this one - https://www.cnet.com/personal-finance/credit-cards/does-it-hurt-to-pay-off-your-credit-card-balance-before-your-billing-cycle-ends/ https://www.cnet.com/personal-finance/credit-cards/does-it-h...) and it's easy to see why these pages are generating a lot of page views. This page is clearly massively SEO optimized for "pay balance early" and associated keywords. Google is going to love it.
- yucky 4y agoI understand it's in the news now and it's timely and all that, but sites have been using tools like ArticleForge for years now to generate content that games the Google algo.
