This is always worrisome for me. They used to do unlimited vacation to get PTO off the books now it seems like it is even a worse deal. They get the PTO off but you can't take time off unless your manager okays it. It gives management all the power and puts you totally at the mercy of a bad boss. I don't like it when anything that is formally defined moves to something informally defined it usually is to obfuscate the fact someone is now getting screwed.
