I guess/thought the context of this was around 'big economic events' like people are predicting for 2023 - big economic downturn/recession. I generally agree that it's not something most people would be on board with most of the time. Extreme/national/global circumstances, yeah. If few are hiring, everything's paused, etc... taking 10% pay cut seems reasonable. If the cuts are just because the company isn't run very well... yeah... move on to something else if you can.
