Google looks at text generated by ChatGPT and is like “wow, that’s exactly how I think about things.” They were trained on much of the same content: the web. The biggest challenge for generative AI is its willingness to make things up. It’s fine when you’re playing around. Not so fine when you’re expecting it to actually help you in a real way. I suspect this is why Google has not debuted such an interface despite literally decades of work on AI. You have to be able to bolt a “truth filter” onto the AI, which seems difficult.
