I am not particularly pro going to the moon, or manned missions at all really. But I find it weird that of all the insane activities we just politely ignore (gargantuan military expenses, pointless farm subsidies, endless support for various investment markets etc) it is only science that seems to have to constantly justify its existence from first principles...
