Which page do you direct users to - the reviews page or the main app page? Do you have any data on which converts better for getting new star ratings?

  It goes right into the review page by using a special url.

    My hunch is that the main app page would convert better for getting star ratings. Have you tested both? The potential problem with the reviews page is that it makes it seem to the user like they have to write a review in order to give a star rating. On the main app page, however, they can just provide a star rating.

      That's interesting thought. I could see that working in the Mac App Store. I think there are two reasons we redirect to the review page. The first is that it makes it really simple to go to a review. The user won't have to scroll down to rate it. The second is that some apps are more concerned with reviews. Star ratings tend to be lower with a different distribution that fewer users care about.
