Will the US see a ‘richsession’ – or will economic turmoil hit the poor hardest?
- wkat4242 4y agoOf course it will hit the poor the hardest. The system is rigged that way. Not just in the US but most of Europe as well. The rich are always looking after themselves and they need the middle class to vote for them and pay for their wares so they're not going to be the worst off either.
- rayiner 4y agoWhere in Europe is it not “rigged that way?” How about Asia and Africa? Where do they fit into this?
- wkat4242 4y agoWhen I said 'most of Europe' I was thinking in particular about Scandinavia as an exception. They seem to protect the lower classes the best. West and South Europe isn't the worst (for example here in Spain we have great free healthcare), Eastern Europe is mostly really bad for poor people though it does depend a lot on the country. About Asia and Africa, I have no idea, I have too little experience with them which is why I didn't mention them. But in general I think it's a bad thing that the poor always take the fall when things go bad. After all social welfare is especially intended for the lowest classes not to fall into poverty but we're seeming to do a pretty bad job at this.
- mgerdts 4y agoI recently heard it being described as a Patagonia vest recession. Not blue collar, not white collar, but Patagonia vest. I find that much catchier than richsession.
- SOLAR_FIELDS 4y agoFriend of mine from Portland describes the brand as “Patagucci” which I found to be an amusing and fitting descriptor
