- europeanguy 4y agoMeaningless. That's not the real reason. I wonder if Putin convinced Lukashenko this was a good idea somehow (Lukashenko is a complete dummy), while at the same time knowing full well this is another step for Bielorussia away from the west and towards Russia.
- qualudeheart 4y agoLukashenko is in fact one of the smarter dictators. Putin’s the real knobhead.
- DoItToMe81 4y agoYou can't understate this. Lukashenko averted the 90s collapse that most of his neighbors suffered greatly from, rooted out the mafia, and balanced power well enough that every attempt to reintegrate Belarus into Russia has failed. He's by no means a great man, but he has done his job quite well, when you consider just how badly other countries suffered.
