I would love to try this some time, and then I remember that I spend 90% of the time on my PC programming, and then I get sad and settle with my qwerty.

- rgoulter 4y agoThere's plenty of room to do improve on standard QWERTY keyboard in a technically interesting way. Although not related to chorded-input like Plover uses, I'd suggest something like https://github.com/manna-harbour/miryoku https://github.com/manna-harbour/miryoku
- namibj 4y agoWhile good so much for APL, plover is quite suited to writing something like python. Also it would be likely that you wrote more words then dense code, just did to comments and team communication.
- charcircuit 4y agoNo, plover is suited to transcribing speech. It is not suitable for writing code, although it is possible to shoehorn it into that use case.
- kragen 4y agowriting python and vim commands seems to have been one of mirabai's major goals for plover
- charcircuit 4y agoYes, there is support for doing that with plover, but it would be better to just use a normal keyboard. Just because it's possible to technically write python with it, that doesn't mean that it is a good experience.
- kragen 4y agoi haven't tried but mirabai seems to type python with it a lot faster than i've ever seen anyone type it on a qwerty keyboard
- angio 4y agoOn the other hand programming also involves writing a lot of prose: documentation, comments, github issues, slack etc.
