- cammikebrown 4y agoFEBO was one of the highlights of my Amsterdam trip. I wish we had automats here still.
- monkeydust 4y agoIf your into or curious about Automats highly recommend this video, was on Prime. Feel like it's only a matter of time before they make a comeback. https://m.imdb.com/title/tt4554690/ https://m.imdb.com/title/tt4554690/
- orlp 4y agoI have never in my life seen it spelled krokette. Only kroket.
- deafpolygon 4y agoIt's okay, I was missing a letter. Kroket (singular) kroketten (plural).
- orlp 4y agoAh, fair enough.
- leipert 4y agoBut „Krokette“ is the singular in German.
- WelcomeShorty 4y agoBut the German „Krokette“ are something different then the Dutch Kroketten :)
- sebazzz 4y agoThis from the article looks like a schnitzel though.
- uranusjr 4y agoIt’s how a typical Japanese croquette (koro-kke) looks like, under the crust it has minced beef and mashed potato, not a cutlet.
- washadjeffmad 4y agoThey're a lot smaller than one, too. I think people downvoting might not know what a schnitzel is. Other Japanese croquette styles use potato and pork, curry rice with beef, or crab and white sauce. Some are made broad and flat like a schnitzel or crab cake and others are more rounded and oblong.
- dr_dshiv 4y agoA yes, the pinnacle of Dutch cuisine.
- thuridas 4y agoIt also seems a lot to Spanish croquetas. But the Japanese version seems to use potatoes instead of Bechamel sauce. https://www.google.com/search?q=croquetas+de+ternera&oq=croquetas https://www.google.com/search?q=croquetas+de+ternera&oq=croq...
- joeman1000 4y agoFunnily enough I was planning my stay in Amsterdam today and thinking “damn I need to find where the good croquettes are”… What is your recommendation? Where should I go?
- rbastic2 4y agoVan Dobben near Rembrandtplein. "Kaascroquetten broodje met mayo" (Cheese croquette on bread with mayonnaise) was my goto when I lived there some years back. Good enough to order two. Very filling and tasty.
- dr_dshiv 4y agoDon’t look for “good croquettes.” Low expectations are key. Once you are reasonably drunk, they will find you. Get ‘em on a soft white roll with mustard. Then, you smash em in the sammich. Irritatingly delicious, if you ask me. DONT ASK WHAT IS IN THEM.
- andrew_ 4y agoThe Cubans make a wicked croquette as well, and can be found throughout Florida.
