I've gone down the edge case rabbit hole of automation when I discovered AutoHotKey. I love automation, if I can get a computer to do a computer task I'm definitely not doing it manually. But I have to catch myself before I get too involved solving the problem because I want perfection at the beginning. I'm my experience this rarely happens and I have to iterate repeatedly, I'm fully aware I'm not clever enough to cover all edge cases before they present themselves. I remember automating one system (web interface so with AutoHotKey you're relying on tab order) that seemed to change everytime you opened it! Semi automation here was a must.
