Not a control panel story, but I was in an elevator once with a small group and a voice came from the emergency phone.
Voice: "Hello?"
Us: "umm... Hello?"
Voice: "Hi, this is MCI, you can save money on your long distance plan ..."
Us: LOL, "This is an elevator, we can't help you"
Voice: "What, an elevator? what do you mean?"
Us: "Yes, you are calling an elevator!"
Voice: "Oh! Wow, this is wrong, sorry for calling!"
As soon as they dropped, a thought came in and I tried to yell out, "What number did you call!?!?". But they had hung up. Oh, the pranks you could do...
