Withings' $500 toilet computer wants to be WebMD for your pee
- 32gbsd 4y agoBetter than buying another iphone
- tamaharbor 4y agoBut not as satisfying as peeing on your iPhone.
- tuatoru 4y agoNo mention of detectiong urinary tract infections or diabetes mellitus[1], which I'd have thought would be fairly important. 1. although diabetes detection may be implied by the talk about "ketones".

- bradknowles 4y agoSo, I don't know that this is going to go much of anywhere. To use it, you have to sit down to pee, which I think most men in the US won't do. Women could use it, sure. But that's not the market the company is going to want to go after. Men outside the US might be more willing to be "sitzpinklers", but again I think that still leaves out a critical part of the market that they're going to want to get. And there's no evidence of what the company is going to do with all your data. So, privacy is a huge concern. And what happens to the device when it gets caked with poop? Other companies might be happy with targeting a market of primarily women, or men willing to be "sitzpinklers", or a market more oriented towards medical at home monitoring, or companies that are more willing to be forthcoming with data on how they're going to strongly protect your data. But not this company.
