Thats truly interesting thing to learn on such site as HN.
- lofaszvanitt 4y agoThere is something inherently wrong there. The up/downvotes do not make sense, there is a seriously lopsided (non human?) feedback that goes against common sense. And certain very popular reddits are just puzzling. There are things you wouldn't do in real life if you would know a bit more about the context... and yet people get feedback at those reddits that what they are doing is good, every critical thought is downvoted in an instant and the list goes on. It's like an experiment on groups of people where their feedback is totally distorted. I can compare it to a relationship where a parent praises their child when they do something wrong, instead of scolding them and explaining what is right. So in the end the child is doing totally batshit crazy things and thinks that is normal. Or imagine that you get in a bubble where your sense of excess heat is distorted and you can touch a red hot iron without any severe pain, yet your hands are slowly crumbling away like a charcoal. The patterns there are very very strange.
