AI had enormous potential for interesting artistic effects. Instead it's being used to make (for now) shoddy knockoffs, and maybe someday better-than-the-original knockoffs. I was hoping for the invention of a car, but all we got was a faster horse. Would anyone have been able to sell a car if faster horses were already clogging up the streets?
