On the topic of AI vs "real" art, I visited /r/artcommissions. I was surprised at how little people are asking, many in the range of $5-$50 for original work.

- layer8 4y agoSupply and demand.
- pcrh 4y agoQuite. Then I realized that most art has always been cheap (c.f. "starving artist"), so maybe AI doesn't make _that_ much difference in the end?
- layer8 4y agoIt’ll probably allow more people to be starving artists.
- pcrh 4y agoThe difference has maybe always been in the interaction between the artist and the market. Even very competent and painstaking replicas of "great works" that are indistinguishable to most command a small fraction of the price of the original.
