Lenovo’s Yoga Book 9i is an unprecedented laptop for people who hate foldables
- kwanbix 4y ago12 years ago, I bought at the time top of the line ThinkPad T520. It costed less than 800 dollars, which is about 1000 in today's moneny. It seems that all computers are much more expensive today, or am I missing something? (I am talking about the normal Yoga which "starts" at 1500).
- tmtvl 4y agoNo numpad or DVD drive? Hard pass, even if it is easy to replace the battery (which doesn't seem to be the case, pun not intended).
- orestlenczyk2 4y agoDVD drive? what else do we expect from 15mm laptop? 5,25 disk drive?
- karmakaze 4y agoNumpad seems to be divisive. I for one would not buy a laptop with one. I'm also very hesitant to get a 16x9 rather than 16x10 or 3x2 display unless it's a 27"+ desktop monitor.
- tmtvl 4y agoI will agree with you that 16x10 is nicer than 16x9, haven't tried 3x2 yet, should check that out.
- karmakaze 4y ago16x10 is a sweet spot for laptop sized displays. 3x2 or even 4x3 is good for smaller ones like Surface tablets or iPads. I'm not a fan of the trend to ultra narrow phone displays and still prefer 9x16.
- Fatnino 4y agoWhat do you need a DVD drive for? Seems pretty niche by now. Not unheard of to have a need for one but quite uncommon.
- tmtvl 4y agoGames, music, movies, and telly shows, primarily. Got a DVD boxset of Star Trek (no subtitle) which I like to rewatch every couple of years, for instance. And there's a bunch of stuff that's easier to buy on DVD and import than to try and jump through infinite hoops to get digitally.
- uni_baconcat 4y agoLenovo brings Surface Neo back to reality.
- bradknowles 4y agoI've thought for some time now that something like two iPads that can work together as a single computer with a 180 degree hinge in the middle could be a very effective computer. One could be an extended keyboard, or they could work together to be an extended display, or you could fold one back and use the other exclusively. Seems like Lenovo may have had the same idea, only with a different OS. I'd still like to try the idea with a pair of iPads, although I realize that would also require some pretty deep custom software at the OS level.
