Somehow I doubt HN commenters and voters in Louisiana are a similar demographic... My point was that, if you disagree with this law and don't live in Louisiana, your attitude should be "those crazy conservatives!" plus an eyeroll and not "they're trampling our rights!"

It seems like you're making up a strawman. Who here is claiming their rights are being trampled that doesn't live in the state? Also, it is possible to have concern for that which is outside one's own direct interest.
