Apparently it's been reinstated?
https://github.com/AUTOMATIC1111/stable-diffusion-webui/ https://github.com/AUTOMATIC1111/stable-diffusion-webui/ - At least I could access it now.
- jpeter 4y agoWorks for me
- scarygliders 4y agoLooks like it has indeed. Can't edit the title of my submission now. Oh well! Edit: Thanks whoever updated the title!
- sillysaurusx 4y agoThis is a win. Good on Github. I was about to hound Nat to swing around a bat at his former stomping grounds. EDIT: Stripped some commentary about 4chan. I try to avoid editing like this, but the ban was for an entirely different reason, so it was needlessly provocative.
- uncletammy 4y agoBad on Github. It shouldnt have come down like that in the first place.
- sillysaurusx 4y agoMistakes happen, and I’m a fan of mea-culpa reversion, as long as they undo their mistake quickly. Undoing it in a few hours (at 7am Seattle time, no less) seems fine. Shaming people (and entities) after they publicly admit a mistake tends to encourage them to dig in their heels and never revert. GitHub has a stranglehold on developer culture; they easily could have kept him banned. But whoever got him unbanned is also a part of GitHub, so they’re worth praising. I agree it wasn’t ideal though.
- Fuzzwah 4y agoNat left GitHub back in Nov 2021.
- sillysaurusx 4y agoMan, can’t believe it’s already been over a year. Yeah, I know it would’ve been a long shot, but he’d know who to raise the issue with. He also cares deeply about developers in general, and especially about setting good examples — he once joked to me “If you were at Microsoft during the YouTube-dl ban, you wouldn’t think I was so nice. You’d be like wow, Nat swears at people.” I would’ve been too!
