Basically a keto diet, of course it works due to ketosis.
- Sparkyte 4y agoI think the problem with Ketosis is that people are too busy trying to eat a lot of fats. You just need healthy fats, protein and vegetables.
- jononomo 4y agoYou don't need vegetables.
- jononomo 4y agoA carnivore diet is not necessarily a ketogenic diet, although it is a zero-carb diet. If you eat enough protein then your body will make glucose from it and keep you out of ketosis. But I agree that a diet of only red meat is absolutely ideal no matter which angle you look at it from.
- tptacek 4y agoIf you eat enough protein then your body will make glucose from it and keep you out of ketosis Cite for this, please?
- aYsY4dDQ2NrcNzA 4y agoThey’re probably talking about gluconeogenesis. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gluconeogenesis https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gluconeogenesis
- tptacek 4y agoYes, but that's not a cite that says eating lots of protein can take you out of ketosis; it's just a Wikipedia article on gluconeogenesis.
- arcticbull 4y agoI didn't believe it either... it seems to be mentioned in a bunch of keto literature online, like this one [1]. Some folks say it stimulates insulin, and some say it upregulates gluconeogenesis. I haven't found anything authoritative, so I remain skeptical. - tptacek 4y agoSo, it's just a thing you think might happen, because there is such a thing as gluconeogenesis? I went looking, and the only cite I found was a study suggesting this does not in fact happen.
