I have been toying with the idea of converting my old telephone wiring to a 24/48VDC system for charging DC devices. A switch mode DC-DC converter is extremely efficient, and would be a net improvement over multiple disparate USB AC adapters. Unfortunately, it's just not that useful for my home. We don't have enough devices that charge concurrently to justify it
