US teen discovers cyber bully was her own mother
- psychphysic 4y agoWild! The article makes no mention of the motive.
- Vaslo 4y agoYep - very disappointed there is no discussion. Maybe a Munchausen by Proxy kind of thing, though not quite at the level of causing physical illness? Maybe jealous of daughter? Who knows.
- psychphysic 4y agoI wonder if she voluntarily contacted police. Somewhat reminds me of this horrendous story [0]. Aiming for sympathy and police attention. [0] https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-cumbria-64150026 https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-cumbria-64150026
- 3pac 4y agoWild guess, more like resentment of her daughter, or deflecting home/other trouble toward her.
- DoItToMe81 4y agoThis article is devoid of most interesting information.
- mechanical_bear 4y agoAlso, while this is super messed up…how does it rise to the level of the Federal Law Enforcement being involved? Seems like low table stakes for them?
- 3pac 4y agoThere is usually no state or local law that covers the matter well. This is still a frontier. The tragic suicide of Megan Meier, which brought this topic to my own attention, occurred less than a decade ago. Federal computer abuse legislation is about as well as the crime can be prosecuted, I believe due to 1st Amendment protection of free speech. Ultimately it's up to teaching our children to be strong, as this is easily an extranational threat.
