Most people are saying "don't share your opinion on this". That's good advice as far as it goes. But my concern is more about shifting sensibilities. What if my opinion expressed today is generally accepted, but tomorrow is generally vilified. What then?
Consider the LGBTQIA+ community. Roughly ten years ago, identifying with the community was generally harmful to your reputation or whatever. Then the supreme court, in 2015, declared gay marriage legal, which was a huge help to the community. Then Trump got elected and things seemed worse than ever. Things have gotten better in the past couple of years. Caveat, I'm not saying identifying with the community is now "generally accepted", this is just a real-world example that is relevant.
So my strategy is
1) avoid posting much on social media. My primary reminder is that "almost no one gives a shit what I think, or at least they shouldn't"
2) have unique email address (via fastmail's Masked Email), unique debit card numbers (via privacy.com), and unique usernames (via 1Password) on every single site.
3) Occasionally abandon a username and start a new one. Oh well my internet points reset but
