I would say that most big message boards are filled to the brim with psychopathic idiots lusting for an opportunity for a witch hunt gathered around a dumpster fire. It may be fun to pour a bit of gasoline in that fire from time to time and watch the monkey horde go apeshit (yeah, been there, done that)... but in the long run i would stick to smaller communities where you know that you can state controversal opinions. It also helps to have separate online identities for different things (hey, this was even the case back in the 90s and before).
