Show HN: Website animates browser URL field.
- LunarFang_416 4y agoIn addition to traditional spinners on your website screen, you can add loading animations into the URL field of the browser while your website finishes rendering all its content! Play around with it here: https://lunarfang416.github.io/url-animations/ https://lunarfang416.github.io/url-animations/ Github: https://github.com/LunarFang416/url-animations https://github.com/LunarFang416/url-animations I would really appreciate any feedback, suggestions and changes. Always trying to improve. Thanks for reading, and hope you like it!
- KomoD 4y agoAFAIK this will spam your users' history
- sphars 4y agoCan confirm, this was after clicking on a couple of the examples on the page. https://i.imgur.com/WP2okeX.png https://i.imgur.com/WP2okeX.png While neat, not exactly something I want to fill my history with.
- LunarFang_416 4y agoHey, Thanks for pointing this out. Currenlty I am using window.location.replace to update the URL field, which doesn't add to history and just replaces it, and on my Chrome browser my history is not bombarded with history like you showed. Previously I was using window.history.pushState, which would pollute the history in a bad way. Is the browser in the picture EDGE? Would appreciate any suggestions!
- sphars 4y agoThe screenshot I shared was in Firefox 109.0b8 (FF Dev edition). Same behavior is being done in Vivaldi (Chromium-based browser) as well: https://gfycat.com/SlimyPlainBlackandtancoonhound https://gfycat.com/SlimyPlainBlackandtancoonhound Edge does not seem to have the issue.
- LunarFang_416 4y agoAppreciate it a lot. Wouldn't have identified this issue if you hadn't pointed it out. Thanks!!
