The founder of the startup made a speech to TEDx [1] (in French). He is the son of one of the precursor researcher on thermo-acoustic. The speech gives some possible applications of this new technology.

- mosquitobiten 4y agoI wonder if this tech has the efficiency of a turbine and if it could be used to extract power from nuclear fission.
- smolder 4y agoIt's awkward to compare this to a turbine. In a sense they're opposites, one uses mechanical energy to create thermal gradients, the other turns thermal gradients into mechanical energy. However while a normal pump is sort of an engine run backwards, the heating efficiency of a heat pump is because it's moving heat, not because it's efficient at turning motion into heat. Finding a way to run this device "backwards" would not make for a good generator.

- smolder 4y agoWow, interesting. I can't watch now, but thanks for the link.
- slim 4y agothe cringe level of that video is over 9000. it looks like a startup founder imitating a standup comedian imitating a tedx speaker (maybe he does not have an audience because of covid, that's why it feels awkward)
