The downside being that most places/services simply suck due to incompetence and cynicism. Corners cut, rules frequently disobeyed, mediocrity wins, and worker frustration means a revolving door. This is exacerbated by a stingy consumer base with no sense of loyalty. No thanks. I don’t know which post-Soviet reality you come from but the one I live in has a reputation for miraculous economic recovery. And even here most people aspire to leave and succeed elsewhere.
