I do not agree. I believe that professionally "most people" don't work on the same code every day and don't work alone.
Modules are a mean of abstraction and are a classic application of "divide et impera" and you'll need them pretty soon to avoid keeping the whole thing in your head.
But different cultures of programming have a different meaning of what a module is, so, maybe, I'm misunderstanding your point
