Mazda investing in an engine when it's way way too early for everyone to switch to an alternative technology wise is good business and will reduce emissions if it's a more efficient engine. (In fact, I read the article and it's about a synthetic fuel so this is actually green tech entirely) It's not abandoning the idea that global warming is real and needs to be addressed.
