Anything Is Possible in Google Sheets, but Not Everything
- anonymouskimmer 4y agoMore than 50k characters in a cell? Having read the article I guess the author would answer with: hook it up to a "data stream".
- kamphey 4y agoWhat are you trying to accomplish by having 50k characters in a cell? if you have incoming data.. you can split it among a few cells.
- anonymouskimmer 4y agoI don't want to risk being identifiable. It's not incoming data, but data that's pre-filled by users. For our purposes it means having to manually merge a text file containing the longer data with a copy and past of the shorter cell-based data. Doing a mass find-replace to tidy the data. Uploading the new file to an analysis tool. And ultimately looking at a data analysis. The drawback of the workaround is that the longer data lines are no longer organized by user ID and sub-organized alphanumerically. But for our purposes that's just a minor annoyance. We have split the analysis between multiple cells before, but this leads to another form of annoyance when manually viewing the analysis.
