I suspect that most US manufacturing will eventually switch to the countries in the western hemisphere. It's getting too hard to control the waterways throughout the world and make sure cargo can travel without getting highjack or destroyed. At least in the western hemisphere the US can be the ultimate security police, and make sure trade can happen without disruption. Mexico is the start but most other countries will benefit too. Climate change will impact many of these countries hard so the best way to reduce immigration from these counties to the US is to improve their economies. Manufacturing will help both the US and the respective country. I also think that in a relative short time, less than 50 years, we will see a new canal built in central america. Nicaragua is a candidate but I suspect it's not the only possibility.
