In my own experience, yes. Very early in my adulthood I lost interest in working in software design in any conventional capacity entirely because of the kinds of people I was surrounded by and the ludicrous beliefs that they had which led them to where they were and to do what they were doing. There are presuppositions and prejudices that almost everyone coming into this network of industries has that can take years to unlearn (it often depends on the frequency and intensity of self-criticism one can psychically-withstand). One could spend a lot of time spelling all of it out. Probably the big hurdle and one most worth addressing is whiggish attitudes about noetic and moral progress, and the general disdain and disregard for mentality of any ancience beyond that which came about during the "Enlightenment".
