So sat-to-sat connectivity will enable 1) software updates on the sats so that you can do your post processing in space, 2) you can rapidly downlink in a parallel manner. Seems like a big step forward for the defense industry.
- m2fkxy 4y agotechnically, downlink-while-imaging is not necessarily reliant on sat-to-sat networks, or did I miss something?
- Invictus0 4y agoI was just guessing at what he would write in part 2: if you can disseminate the data rapidly to a network of adjacent satellites, eventually one of those will be in view of the ground station, and if those satellites also have the high-throughput laser capability, then you can really downlink faster.
- m2fkxy 4y agoyes, it sure would be an accelerator.
- milgrim 4y agoSoftware updates for satellites have been possible for a long time.
